TH5 — THE CIRCULATION HUB
Release → Understanding → Identity
Your body isn't lost. It knows exactly where it wants to go. It just hasn't been asked.
And the place where that asking should happen is TH5.
TH5 is the fifth thoracic vertebra — the bridge vertebra, sitting centrally in the mid-upper back, directly between the shoulder blades at the place your hand finds when you press your palm flat and say: here. This is where I hold everything I have not yet been able to act on.
TH5 sits at the precise anatomical transition between two territories. Above: the heart's world — feeling, warmth, the knowing of what matters. Below: the Liver's world — direction, planning, the decisive movement of energy toward a chosen goal. The Heart Shu — BL 15, the heart's own back-shu point — lives here at TH5, not at TH4. As if the Chinese medicine tradition has always understood that the heart's deepest function is not the feeling itself but the translation of that feeling into direction and life.
TH5 is where the heart's knowing becomes the will's doing.
The solar plexus — the celiac plexus, the network of sympathetic ganglia governing the entire upper digestive system — is energetically centered at TH5. In Chinese medicine this is the third chakra: personal power, will, the capacity to act from genuine direction rather than from the momentum of others' expectations.
When TH5 is free, the channel between the chest and the belly is open. The Inner Captain is at the helm. What the heart knows flows down into the belly's decisive knowing and becomes genuine, sustained action. The decisions are made from the body's actual signal. The course is yours.
When TH5 is blocked, the Inner Captain sits below decks. The ship is sailing — competently, often successfully — on a course set by others' expectations, accumulated obligations, and the automatic pilot that was built long ago to keep the peace. The calendar is full. The sense of direction is absent.
You feel it as:
- the specific heaviness between the shoulder blades — the mid-back tension that has a dull, persistent, compressed quality different from anything above
- the stomach that tightens before important decisions, before confrontations, before moments that would require genuine direction
- chronic low-level irritability — the disproportionate reaction to small frustrations that is the accumulated pressure of a direction with nowhere to go
- the perpetual verge of choosing — knowing what you want, and consistently not arriving at the choice
- a full life that feels strangely empty of genuine purpose
- the anger that has been so thoroughly managed it has become invisible — expressed only sideways, only indirectly, only when something small triggers what years of suppressed direction has been building
TH5 doesn't just affect your mid-back. It affects whether the ship of your life is being steered — or just drifting on the current of everyone else's expectations.
This page is not about fixing symptoms. It's about the helm — and what happens when the Inner Captain finally takes it.
THE TH5 PATH: THREE DEPTHS OF INTEGRATION
TH5 work unfolds in three natural phases. Not because of a model — because this is how the nervous system actually integrates change.
You don't have to decide anything upfront. You simply start where your body is.
LEVEL 1 — STRUCTURAL RESET
LEVEL 2 — PATTERN BREAKER
LEVEL 3 — SYSTEMS SOVEREIGNTY
How This Is Meant To Be Used
You don't "choose a level."
You enter TH5 and your body shows you how deep it wants to go.
Some people only need Level 1. Others naturally move into Level 2. And some feel the pull toward full integration.
There is no hierarchy. No rush. No pressure.
Only alignment.
TH5 is called The Compass for a reason.
When communication here is restored:
the channel between heart and belly opens the direction moves the course becomes genuinely yours
You stop drifting on the current of expectations and start sailing your own path.
Your body is ready.
The question is not if this works.
The question is:
What course have you been waiting for permission to set?
